Bedford/Vauxhall Astra Max Van
There couldn’t have been too many car/vans left that you needed to change down a gear to get up a motorway incline, but this was one of them.
A good workhorse though, I had two of these as company vans, sign written with CBSL and later Radius CBSL logos.
The first was a Bedford Astra Max 1.6 diesel and the second was a Vauxhall Astra Max 1.7 diesel. Same vehicle just a marketing decision with the name.
Servicing intervals was 4500 miles, I used to do that every month so would book my next service for the same time next month. The leasing company must have loved that.
I was never one for emptying out the van so it would always be full to the brim of cabling equipment and tools, I had one of those pipes on the roof for trunking and a couple of sets of aluminium ladders strapped to the roof rack so fuel consumption probably wasn’t that great.
